Chuck Takes Pole At Stafford, Rain Delays Finish

The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series rolled into Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT for the ASB Classic 150 on August 8, 2003.  Chuck and the #4 Mystic River Marina team were hooked up during practice, and Chuck went out to take the pole in qualifying.  Chuck's stats continue to grow with his 5th career bud pole award and 3rd in the 2003 season.  The top qualifiers would redraw for starting position and as luck would have it Chuck drew the #1 spot.

At the start of the race #79 Eddie Flemke. who was sitting on the outside pole, passed Chuck on the first lap.   Chuck ran second behind Flemke, but before Chuck could make his move, the caution came out around lap 45 for rain.  Eventually at lap 61 and still under caution, the skies opened up and NASCAR made the decision to red-flag the race and postpone the finish until August 19, 2003.

Two-time NASCAR Busch Series Champion, and Chuck's former boss - Randy LaJoie was in attendance.  LaJoie's godson Ronnie Silk, a Stafford regular in the SK Modified class, was making his NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series debut.  LaJoie's company - The Joie of Seating was also on hand to measure drivers for seats.

The team makes final preparations before qualifying.

Chuck earned his 5th career Bud Pole Award.
