May 18, 2004 Hossfeld Resigns SK Modified® Duties at Stafford Buffalo, NY: Chuck Hossfeld of Buffalo, NY announced today that he would be stepping down as the driver of the #47 Wisk-Clorox SK Modified® for owners RJR Enterprises. After competing in only five races at the Stafford Motor Speedway, the Featherlite Modified Series standout cited a growing concern by the Mystic Missile Racing Team as the determining factor in his decision. "There was concern with my Modified Series Team that running at Stafford weekly was going to start having an effect on our performance," stated Hossfeld. "I owe it to the team to make the Tour my top priority." It was a difficult decision for Hossfeld. "I deeply regret not being able to finish out my commitment to the RJR Enterprises team. We haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what we could have accomplished." The potent trio of Hossfeld, Joe Santoro and Rob Chowansky had scored three top-three finishes over the last three weeks. "I wish those guys lasting success," continued Hossfeld. "Whoever they chose to put in the Wisk-Clorox #47 will be very fortunate." With a renewed resolve Hossfeld will head to Nazareth Speedway with the Mystic Missile Team in hopes of taking down their first win of the season. The Service Electric 100 will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2004.
