May 26, 2004 Hossfeld Primed & Ready for 2nd Appearance for FMS at Stafford Buffalo, NY: This week started off a little out of the ordinary for NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series driver Chuck Hossfeld. Like many Monday afternoons, Hossfeld was in his Buffalo, NY race shop. But he was not working on his racecar; he was standing in front of a camera. WGRZ-TV Channel 2 in Buffalo did a special report on Hossfeld for their Monday evening news. The piece covered the many aspects of Hossfeld's racing career, both on the Modified Tour and at home in New York. Hossfeld hopes to finish off the week with more television coverage by getting into victory lane at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday night. Highlights from the 14th Annual Haynes Material 150 for the Featherlite Modified Series will be aired on NASCAR New England in June on Connecticut's UPN Station-WCTX. Activities for the Haynes Material 150 get underway at Stafford with Featherlite Modified Series practice beginning at 3 PM. Twenty-six cars will gain entry to the race through Bud Pole qualifying which is scheduled to begin at approximately 5:30 PM. As many as 5 provisional starters will be added to set the field for the 150-lap event. The top 6, 8, or 10 drivers in time trials will redraw for their starting positions. Hossfeld fully intends to a contender in the Haynes Material 150. "We are due," said Hossfeld confidently. And Hossfeld and company are always tough at Stafford. During the 2001 & 2002 seasons, Hossfeld and the Mystic Missile Racing team have enjoyed an average finish of 7.25 (in eight starts). In last year's CT Classic 150 presented by Haynes Material, Hossfeld drove Bob Garbarino's racecar to an 8th-place finish. Back in April, after leading over 100 laps, a flat tire relegated Hossfeld to a 12th place finish. That was the first in a string of 12th place finishes that extended to both Waterford and Nazareth over the last few weeks. Hossfeld plans to use the trip to Stafford to catapult the team back into the top-ten and hopefully the winner's circle.
