June 4, 2004 Hossfeld Ready to Tackle Riverhead Buffalo, NY: This Saturday night Chuck Hossfeld and the rest of the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series contingent will take on the bullring that is Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, NY. The close confines of Riverhead Raceway will make for tight but quick racing in the Miller Lite 200. A good set-up and a solid qualifying run will be key. Qualifying for the Modified Series event will be even more competitive than usual with a smaller starting field of only 28 racecars. Twenty-three will make the field on time while the remaining five possible positions will determined by provisionals. Bud Pole Qualifying gets underway at approximately 5:45 PM. Last year's spring event at Riverhead Raceway was cancelled due to inclement weather. When the Tour came back in August for the Miller Lite 200, Hossfeld was able to beat the odds and finished 6th after starting 25th. He hopes to find the same combination of performance and luck on Saturday night. "We really need a good finish this weekend," said Hossfeld. "All the guys have been working so hard. They give me a great car week after week. We just need a few of the breaks to go our way instead of against us like they have been lately. The finishes have not shown how well we are running." Riverhead may seem like a difficult place to rebound but that is just what Hossfeld and his Mystic Missile Team are looking to do at the Long Island oval. Greg Schroder and the guys spent the week preparing the Mystic Missile and will be ready for action on Saturday night. Hossfeld is focused and ready as well. The intensity of the racing at Riverhead is well suited for a young gun like Chuck Hossfeld. That much-needed top finish could be right around the tight corner at Riverhead Raceway.
