June 9, 2004 Lots in Store for Hossfeld at Lake Erie Buffalo, NY: This weekend is the closest that Chuck Hossfeld is going to get to a having a "home track" on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series. Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA is just under 2 hours from Chuck's home in Buffalo, NY-a far cry from the four plus hours that he drives nearly every week to compete on the Tour. "I am really looking forward to going back to Lake Erie, " said Hossfeld. "It is great to be so close to home where my family, friends and local supporters can come and see me race." The fans seem to share the same eagerness for Hossfeld's visit. He got quite an ovation from the Lake Erie crowd last year. Their applause was met with a great performance by Hossfeld-a fourth-place finish in the inaugural event for the Featherlite Modified Series at the Pennsylvania 3/8th mile oval. Hossfeld is approaching this weekend's race at Lake Erie with added enthusiasm. He is looking forward to a celebration not only for better things to come for the Mystic Missile Racing Team but also for his father. Chuck's Dad will be celebrating a birthday on race day. "I would be really neat to get a win for my Dad," said the proud son. "Especially this close to Father's Day." The starting field for the Saturday's Lake Erie 150 will be determined through time trials. Bud Pole qualifying is scheduled for approximately 5:00 p.m. The first 25 positions will be set by time, while five additional starting spots will be made available; bringing the starting field to 30. The five provisional starting positions will be based on 2004 owner points (2 spots), 2004 driver points (2 spots) and one past champion. The main event is expected to go green at approximately 9:00 PM on Saturday, June 12, 2004. The Mystic Missile Racing Team is getting back to basics this weekend. They are united, reenergized, and ready to do battle. "It is hard when you have been in a slump like we have," said Hossfeld. "We have been doing a lot of things right but things just have not gone our way." "This weekend it is as much about a positive attitude as it is about preparation," continued Hossfeld. "Collectively we are going to concentrate on what has made us successful over the years". The festivities kick-off early for Hossfeld, who will be participating with Lake Erie Speedway for an autograph session and live radio remote with Z102.3 Erie's Classic Rock on Friday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Juniors on the Bay (located just of Bay Front Highway). Later in the evening, Hossfeld will partake in an autograph session during intermission of Lake Erie Speedway's Friday night racing activities. Then it's down to business on Saturday with all the action for the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series.
