Hossfeld Hot at Seekonk

SEEKONK, Mass.: Chuck Hossfeld of Buffalo, N.Y. scored his first NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series win of the 2004 season in the Coca-Cola 150 at Seekonk Speedway. Hossfeld, driving the Mystic Missile Racing Dodge, held off a determined challenge by Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y over the final 30 laps to win by just .38 seconds.

It was the fifth career win for Hossfeld and his first at Seekonk. He took the lead on lap 68 from Eric Beers following a restart for a caution period that occurred on lap 61. His last series victory was at Waterford, Conn. in Aug of 2003.

“I really enjoy racing at Seekonk, the fans are terrific here.“ said Hossfeld. “Over those final laps I was just holding my line trying to hold off Donny. I was trying to make him go around me. This win was a real shot in the arm to the whole team.”

Lia’s second place in the Huntington Honda Chevrolet was his third straight Top-5 finish. Lia is now sixth in the series standings. Three races ago he was 16th.

Dick Houlihan earned a career best third place finish in the Viveiros Insurance Chevrolet. Eric Beers, who led the first 67 laps in the Major Motion Transport Chevrolet was fourth. Jeff Malave rounded out the Top-5 in the Davidson Company Chevrolet with his first career Top-5 finish.
