Benefit For Meagan Chuckran

Meagan Chuckran

Meagan Chuckran, the 12 year old daughter of Kim Chuckran, fiancée of NASCAR modified driver and Seekonk Pro Stock champion Dick Houlihan was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer). The cancer has metastasized and tumors have been found in her lungs. Recently, she has begun undergoing treatment. The treatment will include a year of intense chemotherapy and surgeries.

Unfortunately, Meagan is no stranger to sickness. At 4 days old, it was discovered that she had a rare eye cancer called Bilateral retinoblastoma. At 10 days, she underwent surgery to save her left eye. At 17 days, her right eye was removed. At 4 months, another tumor was discovered in her remaining eye and she underwent another procedure where a radioactive plaque was sewed to the back of her eye in order to destroy the tumor.

Meagan continues to be an inspiration to everyone that she comes in contact with. Her outgoing personality and energy is magnetic. She truly is a wonderful little lady. When she was 9 years old Meagan was inspired to donate 12 inches of her own hair to an organization called "Locks of Love" after watching a story of a little girl on T.V. who needed a hairpiece.

The above picture was taken just a few days before she began her treatment.

A benefit fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 6:00 PM at the Taunton VFW, 82 Ingell Street, Taunton, MA. The benefit will include a dinner, live band and a large raffle. For ticket or donation information, please call 508-823-3950.
