June 8, 2005 Hossfeld to Tee off for Charity Oxford, CT - Chuck Hossfeld, driver of the 50 Whelen NASCAR Modified Tour Ford Mustang will be taking a swing at something different this week when he tee’s off in the 2005 Tom Baldwin Memorial Open Thursday June 9th at the Bellport Country Club in Bellport, NY. Hossfeld, from Ransomville, NY decided to extend his stay on Long Island following the Miller Lite 150 at Riverhead Raceway last Saturday night and take part in the tribute to the late Tiger Tom Baldwin. "I’m excited about being part of a benefit like this," said a thoughtful Hossfeld. "It sounds like they’re going to raise a lot of money. I’ve talked to some of my friends here, they’re going, so we’ll have a good time. I’m looking forward to it." Proceeds of the charity benefit in honor of former modified great Tom Baldwin will go to several organizations including the Village of Bellport Summer Concert Series, Victory Junction Gang, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Autism Society of America. Hossfeld, currently fourth in the Whelen NASCAR Modified Tour points standings, is also ready for the next Whelen NASCAR Modified Tour event, the New England Dodge Dealers Twin 100’s at Thompson International Speedway this Sunday June 12th. "I’m looking forward to Thompson," said Hossfeld who took the season opening Bud Pole Award at the 5/8-mile speedway back in April. "I think all of our races are going to be great." As a matter of fact Hossfeld’s outlook on his racing season is quite a bit different than his outlook on his golf outing this week. "There is a problem there," said Hossfled with a laugh. "I’m not a good golfer. I’m going to practice this week-that ought to be good."
