Hossfeld Returns To Local Racing

Ransomville, NY - After an early season split with DeLange Racing, Chuck Hossfeld's local racing activies were up in the air. This fueled much speculation, hopes, rumors, and guesses as to what Chuck will be doing for the remainder of the 2005 season. Let the rumors be put to bed, Hossfeld will be competing locally in both the #20 asphalt modified owned by Jerry Gradl Jr. and in the #68 dirt sportsman for owner Ray MacIver.

Hossfeld is a regular competitor on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, the top series for modifieds in the country. When the tour schedule allows for it, he races select events at local tracks. For the past few years this meant racing the #22 modified at tracks such as Lancaster Raceway Park and Oswego Speedway. With the departure of DeLange Racing... and the #22 car, it was Jerry Gradl Jr. who stepped up and offered Chuck the #20 modified ride.

Gradl and Hossfeld have quite a history together. It was Gradl who offered to let Chuck drive his modified after his release from Roush Racing several years back. [A ride which netted a win in the 2001 U.S. Open at Lancaster and a 2nd place finish at the Sunoco Race of Champions 200 at Oswego Speedway later that year.] Gradl's business, Jerry Gradl Motors, has been a sponsor onboard Hossfeld's modifieds ever since. Chuck had also been employed at Jerry Gradl Motors as a salesman over the past few years.

Whether as owner, sponsor, employer, or simply as a good friend - Jerry Gradl Jr. and Chuck Hossfeld have developed a strong bond both on and off the track. Based on their past performance, you can expect good things from this combination, and with the inclusion of the #22 crew including Jim Rudolph as crew chief - you can expect some good results from the #20 car for the remainder of this season.

The deal to drive for Gradl came together just this past week, and the team has been busy preparing the car for it's debut next week, Thursday June 30, 2005 in the R.O.C. Firecracker 75 at Lancaster Raceway Park. Other planned races include a knockout Sepetmber with both the 55th Annual Sunoco Race of Champions 200 and the R.O.C. U.S. Open 125 on the schedule.

Hossfeld will also be back behind the wheel of the #68 dirt sportsman several more times this year. Ray MacIver built the new car for this season and gave Chuck the opportunity to drive it and gain some valuable dirt experience. The combination was potent from the start as the Hot Shoe's learning curve accelerated faster than anyone could have imagined, and led to a win at Merrittville Speedway in only his third time out with the car.

Chuck's stats for the Raceway Speed & Performance sponsored sportsman sound more like those of a veteran dirt warrior. With a win, a top-5, and a top-10 finish in the four races run this year, Hossfeld has shown that his skill behind the wheel is not limited to the surface under his wheels.

Upcoming schedule highlights for the #68 sportsman include two 50-lap DIRT Sportsman Series events at Ransomville Speedway, one next week on July 1st and another on September 9th.

The schedule has been updated with the planned races for the #20 modified and #68 sportsman.
